What Are Nasal Polyps?
Nasal polyps are soft, noncancerous, and tear-shaped growths that can form in the tissues along the lining of the sinuses. They can form individually or in clusters. Although small polyps are not life-threatening and may not even cause symptoms, larger growths or multiple polyps can block nasal airflow, affecting optimal breathing and sinus drainage. This can lead to common symptoms like nasal congestion, breathing difficulties, sinus pain and pressure, and a decreased sense of smell or taste.
